Don’t Over Edit… Pt. 2 ~

Paratroopers in WarOne of the easiest things to do in anticipation of your first edit is to research. Research what? Writing “Best Practices” from online blogs (like this one) and Writers Magazines who show you how you can improve the impact of your plot, the resilience of your characters, the strengths of your scenes, and so much more.

Trying too many new ideas at this stage of the game is more likely to confuse both you and your beta readers (when they get their hands on draft two).

But you need to edit – so how do you when enough is enough?

Most artists dont use a lot of ” Mouth ” to express their artistic abilities. Unlike, Laura Jenkinson who has drawn very well known characters straight on her face with those pearly whites. If she has green eyes i bet she cute. Nice Style. What do you think of this creativity?

I love all of you, so it might be best to hear this from me. Sit down. We need to talk. Writers are….”different.” This might not be news to some of you, but I imagine others of you are in denial. I know I was for ages. We try SO HARD to be normal, but normal is just so, so, so…BORINGnormal.

Our “differentness” weirds normal people out, because they’ve been trained by TV what the writer’s life should look like.

Just like DNA analysis takes less than 10 minutes on an episode of Rizzoli & Isles and the bad guy is caught and in cuffs in less than an hour, what “looks” like writing and the creative process in movies? Kind of isn’t. Not even CLOSE.
